Maktab Nasional Enrichment Programme

Since 2010, the school has developed a programme aimed to stretch all our students to the best of their ability by preparing them for the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination. Subjects offered in this programme include English as a Second Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

Overview

igcseCambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international curriculum for 14-16 year olds, leading to globally recognised and valued Cambridge IGCSE qualifications. It is part of the Cambridge Secondary 2 stage.

Cambridge IGCSE provides excellent preparation for the Cambridge Advanced stages including Cambridge International AS and A Levels and Cambridge Pre-U, as well as other progression routes.

Recognition

Cambridge IGCSE is taken in over 100 countries worldwide and is widely recognised by higher education institutions and employers around the world as evidence of academic ability. Cambridge IGCSE is equivalent to the GCSE in the United Kingdom.

Each learner’s performance is benchmarked using eight internationally recognised grades (A*-G). In some countries, IGCSE qualifications will satisfy the entry requirements for university. In others, they are widely used as a preparation for A Level, AS, International Baccalaureate and US Advanced Placement courses.

Grade C in IGCSE English (both First Language and Second Language) satisfies the English proficiency requirements of many universities in the UK and other anglophone countries.

 About the IGCSE Examination

When are the examinations?

IGCSE examinations are conducted twice a year; May/June and October/November of every calendar year. However, our students will be registered for the May/June examinations because the SPM examinations are in November/December each year.

Where are the examinations conducted?

Students will be registered and will sit for their examinations at the British Council in Kota Kinabalu.

What are the fees and charges involved?

We are committed in providing the best possible education to your child and helping them to realize their fullest potential. Hence we do not charge for our enrichment programme.

However, there are examination fees payable to the British Council when your child registers for the examination. These fees are payable in January for the May/June examination of that year. Fees vary from year to year and from subject to subject. Please speak to us for more details.
