Introduction to Academics

At Maktab Nasional, we aim to provide excellent all-round education to boys and girls between the ages of 13 to 17, ensuring that they reach their full academic potential in a learning environment that is conducive and fully supported to achieve this.

We believe in holistic education where emphasis is placed in every aspect of a child’s growth. With a small teacher-student ratio and a class size not exceeding 35 students the school is able to function as a close-knit community where each individual can explore the learning culture in a supportive environment.

Teaching is carried out following the Malaysian curriculum and additional subjects are offered in a school community that encourages students to develop not only knowledge and skill but a set of spiritual beliefs and moral code combined with strong personal characteristics and self-confidence. Students are taught coursework and study skills which prepare them for public examinations such as the Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

On top of that, students are also exposed to an enrichment programme based on the Cambridge O-Level syllabus and will have the option of sitting for the IGCSE examinations when they are 17 years old. This feature of our academic programme allows our students to gain maximum academic benefits based on domestic and international standards.
